They met in the winter of 2018 at a high school house party. Ethan showed up late and was immediately surrounded by people; meanwhile, Lenci had no idea who he was and wasn’t quite ready to start mingling just yet. As the night went on, a group gathered on the patio, where Lenci quickly realized Ethan was hitting on her best friend… which, of course, she couldn’t allow.

After a full tour of Ethan’s camera roll (complete with detailed commentary) and a little more liquid confidence, Lenci decided to make her move. Naturally, Ethan had no idea.

They went their separate ways that night and didn’t talk for a while—until one evening, when Lenci’s friends dared her to Snapchat him. Still completely unaware of her intentions, Ethan agreed to “tutor” her in physics (which may or may not have been necessary). The hints continued, subtly at first, until Lenci invited him to one of her soccer games… and he ended up changing her tire for the first of many times.
